Infrastructure work began earlier this month at the Office at City Farm, Dantin Bruce Development’s planned 60,000-square-foot office park on Jefferson Highway. Less than a quarter of a mile away, a competing 70,000-square-foot office park—6700 Jefferson—is about to get underway as well. Can the market support dueling office parks?

Development duo Brian Dantin and Ross Bruce, whose previous projects have included the Bluebonnet Palms Office Park, Copper Mill Office Park and 333 Lofts and 333 Flats, will start construction on another project at the beginning of the new year called The Offices at Towne Square.

The Capital Region has seen considerable commercial growth over the past year. Several new project starts enabled the construction sector to become a main economic driver, and the Baton Rouge Area Chamber’s economic outlook predicts a strong surge of growth for the coming years. New retail, business, residential, medical, educational, dining and church plans are included. The following is just a sampling of some of the projects that have been announced, started or completed over the past year.

Dantin Bruce Development will break ground next month on 333 Flats, a residential development on East Boyd Drive, between Burbank Drive and Highland Road, says co-owner Brian Dantin. 333 Flats is the second phase of a larger residential development by Dantin Bruce on East Boyd. It will be located adjacent to 333 Lofts, which opened in August 2012.
